The Government Arts and Science College, Valparai, is one of the affiliated colleges of Bharathiar University. In 2006, College was started as Bharathiar University Arts and Science College.  In 2019, the college was converted to Government Arts and Science College,Valparai .

The college has been ranked 19th in All INDIA under the Cashless Transaction VISAKA (Vittiya Saksharta Abhiyan) Scheme 2017 which engages the students/youth to use a digitally enabled cashless economic system for the transfer of funds.

College is recognized under 2F and 12B of the UGC (University Grants Commission).

Currently, College functions on a 12.5 acres land in the central part of Valparai city. The College offers 9 under graduation courses and 4 post graduation courses.University.
